Disneyland has redefined the logic of the pedestrian environment in the context of the automobile city.
Inside Disneyland is a pedestrian, human-scaled environment, which characteristics are those of a traditionnal city. Inside, it is closed to its context.
But outside, Disneyland is as widely open to its context as can be. Because it is connected to the freeways, but also because it is world famous and attracts people from all over the planet.
Compared to another city district, Disneyland's context is at the same time much more confined inside, and much more open to the outside.
This very strong dichotomy between the outside and the inside is the main characteristic of every element of the cocktail-party city.
It's not by the architecture that the elements of the cocktail-party city open to the outside. Their surface is neutral.
