Yet, one can find public spaces in LA. Venice's boardwalk is a " real " public space. Yet, it was originally a reproduction of Venice with its canals, a city for the arts created by a private developer, Abbot Kinney : a theme-park like utopian city.
Then, as the original idea wasn't successful, it became an amusement park, and was nicknamed the " Coney Island of the Pacific ".
The theme park has now disappeared, and the area has evoluted into a public space - maybe the only one in LA, an exception rather than the norm.
